Let me tell you a story about two legends—Sharon Osbourne and Robin Williams. Sharon, who’s known for her sharp wit and no-nonsense attitude on The Talk, once called Robin “one of the nicest, genuine people you could ever meet.” And honestly, there’s a reason for that. This man, with his incredible talent and heart of gold, might have literally saved Sharon's life.
Back in the early 2000s, Sharon was battling colon cancer—a fight that came before Robin’s tragic passing in 2014. In the Osbourne family’s recent podcast episode, which aired on March 5, her kids, Kelly and Jack, opened up about that tough chapter in their mom’s life. They shared how Robin stepped in during one of the darkest moments and made all the difference.
As Jack explained, “It was during the filming of The Talk when Mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. It happened early on, just as the show was getting off the ground. Honestly, it wasn’t a fun time for any of us, but especially not for Mom. She was dealing with so much, and it wasn’t easy.”

Kelly chimed in, painting a vivid picture of her mom’s struggle. “Mom had reached a breaking point during her chemotherapy. It was when her hair started falling out. That’s when she kind of gave up. She barricaded herself in this bedroom, completely cutting off the world. It was pitch black in there, and she hadn’t gotten out of bed for nearly a week. We were all worried sick about her.”

That’s when Ozzy, Sharon’s rock-and-roll husband, stepped in with a brilliant idea. “Dad said laughter is the best medicine,” Kelly recalled. “So, he arranged for Robin to visit Mom. Robin dropped everything, came straight over, and even climbed into bed with her. I’ll never forget sitting at the bottom of the stairs, hearing Mom laugh so hard upstairs that it brought tears to our eyes. It was like a switch flipped. The next day, Mom decided to go back to chemotherapy. That’s the Robin Williams we all know and love.”
