Why Kate and William Are Sending Their Kids to Separate Schools
Let’s talk about something fascinating. Kate Middleton and Prince William have been breaking the mold when it comes to royal parenting, and their decision to send their kids to separate schools is just one more example. Back in December 2017, when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that their daughter, Princess Charlotte, would attend Willcocks Nursery School, a lot of royal fans scratched their heads. Why wasn’t she going to the same school as her big brother, Prince George? Turns out, it wasn’t about tradition or some grand royal protocol. It was simply about choosing the best educational fit for each child. That’s right—Kate and William are all about personalizing their kids' education. Who would’ve thought?
A source close to the couple revealed to People that they chose Willcocks Nursery School because they believed it would be the perfect first step for Charlotte's education. They were thoroughly impressed by the team there. Plus, there’s a practical side to this decision. Willcocks Nursery School is closer to the family’s Kensington Palace home compared to George’s preschool, Thomas’s Battersea. While Willcocks is conveniently located next to London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall, Thomas’s Battersea is about four miles away from the palace. So, it’s not just about educational quality—it’s also about convenience and what works best for each child.

George and Charlotte’s Unique School Journeys
Before George started at Thomas’s Battersea in September 2017, he attended nursery school at Westacre Montessori School. That school was conveniently close to William and Kate’s Amner Hall home in Norfolk, England. Now, unlike his sister Charlotte—who is 2 years old—George, who was 4 at the time, only attended nursery school part-time. Charlotte, on the other hand, is currently enrolled full-time at Willcocks Nursery School, which reportedly costs a whopping $12,000 per term. According to In Touch, Charlotte really missed her brother George while he was at school, so enrolling her in a full-time nursery program was a good move. It’s giving her the chance to play and interact with kids her own age. That’s something every kid needs, right?
Charlotte’s Skills and George’s Nativity Play
As George and Charlotte grow up, we’re learning more about their educational experiences. A source revealed that Charlotte is already speaking Spanish! That’s thanks to her nanny, Maria Turrion Borrallo, who hails from Spain. Another insider mentioned that Charlotte loves to talk. “She’s very sweet and very confident—she’s always chatting away,” the source said. “She’s so polite, but also fun and energetic. She has beautiful manners.” How adorable is that? As for George, dad William once shared that his son played a sheep in his school’s Christmas Nativity play. Can you picture that? We sure wish there were some cute public pictures of that moment!
