It’s been a decade since the legendary Susan Lucci graced the ballroom floor on Dancing with the Stars, but guess what? The unstoppable 71-year-old says she’d be thrilled to rejoin the dance competition in the future. That’s right, folks, the star who knows how to dazzle both on and off-screen might just be ready to put on her dancing shoes again.
When we caught up with Susan exclusively for Closer Weekly, she didn’t hold back. She’s launching an exciting new workout collection designed specifically for dancers with QVC this Friday. And when asked if she’d ever return to the ballroom, Susan replied with a grin, “You know, I would do it again. It was an absolutely incredible experience. I’m so glad I took that leap.”
Susan Lucci’s Journey on Dancing with the Stars

Now, let’s talk about the real deal. The star of All My Children admitted it’s not as easy as it looks. “Oh, it’s hard. It’s really hard,” Susan confessed to Closer. She went on to explain, “I had no idea how challenging it would be because I’m accustomed to taking blocking as an actress. I’ve even performed on Broadway, so I thought I could handle choreography. But wow, it’s a whole different ball game when you’re under that kind of pressure and timeline.”

Managing a Busy Schedule
Susan, now a proud grandma, shared a little insight into her hectic life during the show. “On top of everything, I was working in NY while doing DWTS in LA,” she said. “Twice a week, we were flying back and forth, and I was juggling my role on All My Children. It was a whirlwind, but it taught me a valuable lesson. If I ever decided to do it again, it would have to be my only project.”
During the 2008 season, Susan danced with the incredible Tony Dovolani, and together, they made it to the seventh elimination round. Tony was more than just a partner; he was a rock of support. “He was with me everywhere. We’d dance in the waiting room at the airport and in the hallways at All My Children during rehearsals,” Susan reminisced. “It was such a fun and unforgettable experience.”
Susan and Tony: A Partnership That Lasts
When we sat down with Susan, she couldn’t stop raving about Tony. “Tony was my amazing dance partner,” she said fondly. “He’s such a sweetheart. I actually saw him recently, and we danced together—it was magical.” Their bond clearly extends beyond the ballroom, as they remain in touch to this day.
Tony has also hinted at a possible return to the show. In a recent chat with Closer, he mentioned, “That door will never close for me because DWTS has meant so much to me and my family. But with three kids, being away for six months a year was tough. If the show switches to once a year and they’re interested in me coming back, I’d be more than happy to rejoin the fun.”
There’s no doubt that if Susan and Tony were to reunite on the dance floor, fans would rally behind them. Team Susan and Tony would be a force to reckon with, and we’d all be rooting for them to snatch that Mirror Ball Trophy!
